I’m Hylas Stemen, the designer behind ēA Design Studio. 


I grew up around jobsites. My dad was a plumber. The smell of fresh lumber. Men using their hands, working for a living.  I was 11 years old when my dad started building our family home. My most valuable lessons came from helping my dad work, hammering nails and building my first wall, Long before I would draw any lines, my hands already knew how to build it.  A pencil still activates all those memories and lessons for me. Houses were already part of how I learned to see the world.


For nearly 30 years, I’ve worked in residential design, from 

estimating and drafting to leading design teams and working alongside builders and other designers. My early construction lessons have sharpened my design pen without a doubt.  That experience shapes how I approach designing a home.


Every project begins with listening. I truly believe that. We talk through what matters to you and your family, explore possibilities through sketches, and bring practical judgment to the decisions ahead.
